| Over het wijnhuis | Ten noorden van het dorpje Soave ligt het wijnhuis Ca’Rugate. Ca’ Rugate dankt zijn naam aan de Rugate-heuvel. Het grootste deel van de wijngaarden van Ca’ Rugate ligt op deze donkere, vulkanische grond van deze heuvel. De familie Tessari, inmiddels de vierde generatie, maakt er wijnen die geënt zijn op historie en traditie. Wijnen met precisie en het karakter van de vulkanische grond. Naast het kwalitatief zeer aansprekende scala aan Soave’s met internationale faam, maakt Ca’ Rugate ook zeer stijlvolle en verfijnde Valpolicella-wijnen, met als hoogtepunt de Amarone Punta 470. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Voor deze wijn worden de beste druiven gebruikt uit de commune Monteforte d'Alpone in Soave Classico. De bodems zijn vulkanisch en rijk aan kalksteen en klei. De druiven worden laat geplukt voor maximale body en concentratie. |
| Vinificatie | Bijzonder aan deze Soave Classico is dat er ook hout wordt gebruikt. De gisting vindt plaats in RVS tanks en eikenhouten vaten. De helft van de wijn gist in eikenhouten vaten van 225 liter, de andere helft in vaten van 20 hl. Na de gisting rijpt de wijn in de vaten van 20 hl op de droesem ('sur lie'). Dit verzacht de wijn en geeft de wijn extra complexiteit mee. |
