Caiarossa 2022 - Super Tuscan
Caiarossa is een estate dat net ten noorden van Bolgheri ligt. Vanaf het begin in 2002 werkt Caiarossa al volledig biologisch-dynamisch en is sinds 2005 ook als Demeter-gecertificeerd. In 2004 werd het estate gekocht door de (in 2018 overleden) Nederlandse Eric Albada Jelgersma. Het estate is vandaag de dag nog steeds in handen van de Albada Jelgersma-familie die ook Château Giscours in Margaux bezit. Bijzonder is dat er tien druivensoorten staan aangeplant, elk uitgezocht op het meest geschikte bodemtype. Het gaat om een mix van Bordeaux- en Rhône-druivensoorten. Elk jaar wordt de blend opnieuw bepaald.

Caiarossa 2022 : A complex melange of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Grenache, the 2022 Caiarossa leads with Cabernet aromas of dark berries, lifted by some floral overtones and marked by an oak imprint of dark chocolate and wood. In the mouth it's intense, fleshy and chocolatey, with a distinct crunch and those chocolatey and floral themes reemerging. Well balanced and with good potential, it just needs time for the wood to integrate.

Caiarossa 2022 : A fabulous Caiarossa worth seeking out. Perfumed and floral - lovely aromatic expression with salty black liquorice, tobacco, tapenade, milk chocolate and dried strawberries. Tangy and zingy, the mouthwatering acidity joins an iron-touch on the tongue that lingers for a long time. Racy and clearly powerful but well constructed with an enjoyable bitter, spice and gorgeous saline finish - a whip of sea breeze accompanying the red fruits and dried herbs and spices. Excellent youthful vibrancy on show with and energy and focus. Tasted twice and equally impressive both times. Biodynamic viticulture and organic winemaking. 3.48pH. Ageing 14 months, 25% new oak and 7% botte which is new. 12% Merlot, 7% Sangiovese, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Grenache complete the blend.
