Schiavenza Broglio 2017 - Barolo
Decanter: Schiavenza Broglio 2017: Schiavenza's vineyards, despite Broglio's southeast exposure, lie on an almost fully south-facing turn in the slope. Bright garnet in the glass, the wine opens up with an intense orange peel aroma along with cherry fruit and a whiff of mint in depth. Very savoury and meaty on the palate, it shows assertive, dusty yet ripe tannins typical of the cru. It's fierce and chewy due to crisp, almost zesty acidity. A great example of the austere wines typical of Serralunga, built to last. 94/100

| Wijngaard en regio | De druiven komen uit de cru Broglio in de comune (gemeente) Serralunga d’Alba in Barolo. De wijngaarden liggen op 360 meter boven zeeniveau en liggen op het zuidoosten. De bodems bevatten veel leem en kalksteen. |
| Vinificatie | De druiven vergisten voor 15-20 dagen op een temperatuur van 25-30 graden Celcius, waarbij de wijn regelmatig wordt overgepompt van het ene naar het andere vat. De wijn rijpt vervolgens 30 maanden in grote vaten (20-40 hl) van Slavonisch eiken. |
