Awards | "The 2015 Saintayme is pure Merlot and raised in 30% new oak. It has a gorgeous bouquet with blackberry and cranberry fruit, a touch of vanilla emanating from the new oak that is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with good depth, a "solid" Saintayme, a pleasant chewiness with a feisty dark berry, licorice-tinged finish. This comes recommended - a fine Saint Emilion from the hands of Denis Durantou." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "A juicy and delicious red with red tile, plums and cherries. Full body, round tannins and a long and juicy finish. Absurdly good for the price. Love it. Drink now or hold. Better in 2020." - James Suckling "Tasted blind. Notably dark crimson. Not much nose. Round and satiny. Lots of polish and work. Fresh though not that complex. Neat finish." - Jancis Robinson "The core of plum, cassis and blackberry paste flavors is still a bit compact, but there is juicy energy through the licorice- and toast-fueled finish and a lovely sense of polish overall. Long. Best from 2019 through 2027. 3,000 cases made." - Wine Spectator |

Sleeper of the vintage zou Robert Parker zeggen.
Enkele jubelende internationale critici:
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate (April 2019): 89-91/100 points, "Produced by Denis Durantou of Château L’Eglise Clinet, the 2018 Saintem is made of 100% Merlot with 30% new oak and 14.5% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with plum preserves, crushed blackberries and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of lavender, unsmoked cigar and fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals beautiful freshness and elegance with soft tannins and loads of mineral sparks on the finish."
Score: 93/100, James Suckling, maart 2021 "Aromas of blackberries, chocolate, cherries, pine needles and bark follow through to a medium to full body with refined tannins and a juicy, nicely fruity finish. Try after 2024."
Score: 94/100, Jeb Dunnuck, "Emerging from the talents of Denis Durantou, the 100% Merlot 2018 Saintayme should be snatched up by readers who want a brilliant, delicious Bordeaux to enjoy over the coming decade. Terrific notes of black cherries, kirsch, flowery incense, cedarwood, and tobacco all define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins and a ripe, hedonistic, yet balanced style that's a joy to drink.
